Pilates

At Pure Yoga we teach the New York method of Pilates; a one hour mat class combining the traditional Pilates repertoire with the moves refined by Joseph Pilates successors.

A small apparatus class incorporates the use of the Pilates flexi-ring, foam roller & theraband. The use of the equipment increases the intensity of the workout and adds variety to mat classes.

Twice throughout the 10 week series a pilates circuit is taught where the pilates reformer, wunda chair, flexi rings, foam rollers, therabands, spine corrector, discs and balls are used. This is the ultimate pilates challenge and is a great all over body workout.

To make classes more enjoyable & varied, we provide:

  • Mats
  • Straps
  • Small apparatus

All classes have limited numbers to ensure individual & personal attention. For this reason bookings are essential.

Each Pilates program runs for 10 weeks in a progressive format enabling the participants to continually challenge the body & mind as they become stronger and more familiar with the moves

Why Pilates ?
Once privy only to the Hollywood stars and professional athletes, the word has spread and pilates is fast becoming the most popular exercise regime in Australia.

A series of unique moves designed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's are executed slowly using controlled & precision in unison with the breath. The result:-

  • Toned, lean & strong muscles without the bulk
  • Improved posture as a result of strengthening the abdominals
  • Stronger & more supportive back
  • Increased flexibility, co-ordination and balance
  • Reduced stress and improved energy levels
  • Improved pelvic floor

And in Joseph Pilates own words:

"In ten (10) sessions you will feel the difference,
In twenty (20) sessions you will see the difference,
In thirty (30) sessions you will have a new body
"
